2nd Largest Derby in the World in 2007!

Rally Racing

What is Rally Racing?
A Rally is a one or two day "mini" derby race. Driver registration is open to anyone that shows up with their car, from any town or state. All cars must race by the rules and guidelines set forth by the All-American Soap Box Derby. All cars are weighed to insure each car is not over it's legal maximum weight per division. The winners of the rallies are given trophies along with AASBD "points" that are accumulated throughout the racing season. The driver with the most rally points in our region (ours is Region 8 - it includes MD, VA, NC & Washington DC) will go to Akron during the All-American World Championship Race and race as a Rally Champ, representing Region 8.

Why have a Rally?
  • Rallies give our drivers another opportunity to race during the season.
  • Rallies help drivers practice their driving skills.
  • Rallies give drivers a chance to race against other drivers from other race cities.
  • Rallies help drivers meet and network with other drivers to learn more about their sport.
  • Rallies help you gather points to get to Akron.

Rebecca Johnson, our only 2007 Rally Champion
who went to Akron from the Culpeper Area.

Also, congrats to Amanda Halsey for gaining enough points
to go to Akron as a 2008 Rally Champ.

Upcoming Rally Races
We are trying to plan for a Rally in the Fall 2008. Once we have more details, we will post them on this page.
